THE EARLY YEARS FOUNDATION STAGE (EYFS)
The early years foundation stage (EYFS) sets the standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years old.
All schools and Ofsted-registered early years providers must follow the EYFS, including childminders, preschools, nurseries and school reception classes. Recently (January 2024) updates have been made to the EYFS and there is now a specific one for childminders which will be used by us at Happy Days Childminding.
The EYFS is split up into seven areas of learning and development;

COMMUNICATION & LANGUAGE
Communication and Language is one of the three prime areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Each of the three prime area are split into early learning goals. for Communication and language the goals are;

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT
Physical Development is one of the three prime areas of the early Years Foundation Stage and split into two sevtion s dfsand split into two sections
MATHEMATICS
Subtitle
Mathematics focuses on developing children's understanding of numbers, shapes and patterns.
LITERACY DEVELOPMENT
Literacy focuses on developing childrens reading and writing skills.
UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD (UTW)
UTW focuses on developing chilkfrens knowledge and understanding of the world around them and people and places.
EXPRESSIVE ARTS & DESIGN
EA&D focuses on developing children's imagination and creativity through art music and drama.
