Meals, Snacks & Drinks

Meals, Snacks, Puddings, Drinks & Dietary Requirements

When plan all snacks and meals at the setting we use the new and updated Early Years Foundation Stage Nutritional Guidance for group and school-based providers and childminders in England.

Our menu is nutritionally balanced, paying special attention to reducing salt and sugar.

We're constantly updating our menu and regularly take on board feedback from children and parents in order to help us plan and serve dishes that meet the needs of all of the children in our care.

Our menu often includes many of the childrens favourites with a healthy twist, such as hidden veg in pasta sauce, ensuring children get the right nutritional balance they need, without even knowing it!.

We do also support and encourage eating well both the setting and at home.

All food is home cooked at the setting and everyone preparing, cooking and serving food has food hygiene level 2 as a minimum.

We have been rated 5 out of 5 by food standards agency and our rating can be seen in the window at the front of the setting. We are very proud of this however didn't doubt we would achieve this.

Lunch- The lunchtime meal is always a healthy meal such as cottage pie, pasta or salmon

We all eat sat at the table together as we know this benefits the children in numerous  ways and allows us to ensure everyone is  chewing and swallowing.

When we eat alongside the children we are able to demonstrate good eating habits whilst also giving the children a sense of belonging which over time leads to better self-esteem.

Healthy Eating at Happy Days

All food is home cooked at the setting and everyone preparing, cooking and serving food has food hygiene level 2 as a minimum.

At Happy Days we promote health eating wherever possible!

We both support and encourage children and their parents/carers to gain a wider knowledge of how to keep themselves healthy.

It is of great importance to us for children to be raised making healthy food choices!

Healthy eating can positively impact children in many ways, it can ensure that they grow and develop appropriately for their age and stage of development, protect their teeth and establish good eating routines.

Healthy Eating at Home

At Happy Days we promote health eating wherever possible!

We support children to form health eating habits as soon as they start at Happy Days and also recognise the importance of parents and carers choosing healthy foods.

It is of great importance to us for children to be raised making healthy food choices both within the setting and at home!

We love hearing about children's home lives and would love for you to share photos of your family eating together which we can display at our setting.

Having photos of you and your child on display at the setting with give them a sense of belonging whilst also promoting health eating.

We're always looking for new meal inspiration, so would love you to share your favourite recipes for us to try too.

Having a healthy meal? We would love to see a photo which we can display at setting!
